GRANT AID TO VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS
Hexham Town Council makes monetary grants to local voluntary organisations and it usually sets aside £6500.00 for Grant Aid and £18000.00 for grant aid to Community Development Initiatives. These amounts are variable and are agreed when the Council Budget is agreed, usually in December. The Council does not seek grant aid applications but it will consider any that are made. It has a small working group that looks at each application received and makes recommendations to the full Council. The Council then considers all the applications made at its monthly meeting in March or April. After noting any recommendations made by the Working Group; the amount it has set aside for grants in its Budget; and the details of each application, it decides how much grant aid may be given to each applicant.
The Council has agreed a Policy for dealing with Grant Aid and this is:

1. Hexham Town Council considers applications for grant aid [running costs, capital or starter] received from voluntary organisations annually.
2. The closing date for receipt of applications for the financial year 2011/12 is 1st September 2010. LATE applications are not considered.
3. No applications from individuals will be considered.
4. Applications from charitable and national organisations will not normally be successful but will be considered on individual merit and if considered relevant to Hexham.
5. Running costs grants will be paid as soon as practical after 1st April 2011.
6. Capital grants will be paid after proof of completion of the project [which must be within the 12 months of the financial year 2011/12].
7. Starter grant applications will be considered alongside other applications unless the Council agrees to immediate consideration.
8. APPLICATION FORMS can be obtained by writing to [or emailing] WITH YOUR POSTAL ADDRESS the Council at the address below stating whether the application form requested is for a running costs; capital or starter grant or by downloading the appropriate application form from the list below.
