Hexham’s Christmas Lights

Hexham Christmas Lights Gallery

This year and every year the Council celebrates Christmas in Hexham.

Grand switch on – November 24th 2017 at 5.00pm

There will be a very large Christmas tree, courtesy of EGGER (UK) Ltd. in the Market Place.

Many of the trees in the Park will be decorated and there will be lots of new lights elsewhere in Hexham including Christmas lighting displays erected on Beaumont Street, the Market Place, Market Street, Fore Street, St Mary’s Chare and Battle Hill.

The event starts at 4.15pm with the Hexham Middle School Orchestra playing at the Bandstand. At 4.30pm Santa will arrive to listen to children’s present requests, and his helpers will hand out sweets and fruit. Afterward Santa will ask every child (and the Mayor!) to count down with him so that at 5.00pm exactly his magic enables the switch on of all the lights on the trees in the Park. Santa will then go on to the Market Place where he’ll switch on the Christmas tree lights.

After the lights are switched on, the Abbey boy choristers will sing Christmas carols around the piano in the Abbey and hot chocolate will be available.

Finally, at 5.45pm, there will be a Compline service with handheld candles and the Abbey Choir.
