Hexham Town Council recognises climate emergency and adopts an action plan on sustainability

During September’s Council meeting the Council adopted a resolution, on the basis of the results of a working group on sustainability, recognising a climate emergency and that the Council has a significant role to play in maximising its contribution to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in line with the approach adopted by the County Council. This means reducing the Council’s own carbon footprint and promoting and facilitating wider behaviour change towards a more sustainable town through its local leadership.
