At the Northumbria in Bloom Awards ceremony held at the Lancastrian Suite, Gateshead on 25 September Hexham In Bloom received 11 awards for its entries in the 2019 competition. The competition, covering communities across the North East, aims to encourage local communities to improve their areas through community gardening and sound environmental practice.
In front of over 400 representatives from around the region Bob Hull, the Mayor of Hexham and Jane Hope Chairman of Hexham in Bloom, together with other representatives of Hexham in Bloom received the following awards:

Bob Hull congratulated the Hexham in Boom team and all those who had won the awards and said that the scale of the success demonstrated the tremendous community spirit in the town and the great pride of its residents in their environment. The work of Hexham in Bloom continues to make Hexham a pleasant, attractive and welcoming place for us all to live in, work and visit. He hoped that even more participation in next year’s competition would be encouraged by the successes of 2019.
