Planning Approval for new buildings for Hexham Schools

On 7 January the County Council’s Strategic Planning Committee unanimously approved the planning application for new buildings for the High School and Middle School on the QEHS site.

Bob Hull, Chair of Hexham Town Council, speaking on behalf of the Council, spoke to the Committee strongly supporting the proposals which he said would mark an important and timely investment in the town’s future. He said that for too long the two Hexham schools had suffered from badly deteriorating facilities for what were successful and outstanding schools. He expressed some concerns that the Town Council had on aspects of the project and hoped these would be taken on board as the project progressed.

This news comes on top of the planning applications approved before Christmas for the former Workhouse site and earlier agreement on proposals for the former Swimming Pool site and the Bunker site next to Tesco.
