Coronavirus update – 24 July update

Face masks update

From 24 July, it will be mandatory to wear a face covering in shops and supermarkets, as well as on public transport. People are also strongly encouraged to wear face coverings in other enclosed public spaces where there are people they do not normally meet.

Your face covering must cover your nose and mouth at all times.

Stay alert

The overall guidance is to remain alert to control the virus. This means you must:

  • stay at home as much as possible
  • work from home if you can
  • limit contact with other people
  • keep your distance if you go out (2 metres apart where possible)
  • wash your hands regularly

Do not leave home if you or anyone in your household has symptoms.
