About Grow Hexham: Since its inception in 2022, Grow Hexham has been at the forefront of promoting sustainable practices and community engagement in Hexham. Thanks to the generous support of National Lottery funding, we are embarking on a mission to revolutionise the way our town approaches food production, accessibility, and waste reduction.

Key Responsibilities: As a Project Coordinator, you will be the driving force behind Grow Hexham’s various initiatives, including:

  • Coordinating and managing all aspects of Grow Hexham’s operations.
  • Promoting our activities through various channels including social media, email, press releases, and community outreach.
  • Developing new plans and projects in collaboration with the Grow Hexham working group to further our objectives.
  • Managing the garden share scheme, tool share shed, community garden, and greenhouse.
  • Planning and organising workshops, events, and gardening sessions.
  • Liaising with community partners and stakeholders to foster meaningful collaborations.

Essential Skills/Attributes: We are looking for someone with:

  • Strong communication skills, both interpersonal and written.
  • Knowledge and experience in food growing or related fields.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Proficiency in IT, particularly design skills for promotional materials.
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends and evenings, especially during the growing season.

Start Date & Compensation: The position is part-time, approximately 10 hours per week, with a competitive freelance rate of £15/hr. You’ll have the flexibility to work from home, the town council office, or our community garden. The preferred start date for this role is 1st June.
